Hi Guys,
Guess what was delivered to my place this morning! I took the day off work to un-crate it, put it together, and welcome it to it's new home
Jet JWBS-18X, 2hp, 18" bandsaw. It's beatiful! 12" resaw capacity. Time to visit the lumber yard!

Lovely! Must be love at first site! I have an ancient Silver Demming 36" with babbit bearings. Not too pretty but it will resaw anything I`m man enough to get up on the table! I think if I had to choose only one saw it would be my bandsaw. |

I have the sister one to that, the 16" and it's a great machine. It was one of the best investments I made in the shop, the things built like a tank and is a bear to move but man is it nice to use and it resaws like a dream. Enjoy it, it's a great tool... Cheers -Paul- |

Thanks guys, I'm really pleased with it, the best (and most expensive) tool I've ever bought. Now I need to get the electrician out to rewire the workshop. The lights dim and the radio cuts out while the saw is booting up - I guess it's pulling a few amps getting up to speed. Reminds me of those old prison movies when they were firing up ol'sparky. |

*sigh* I wish I had space, any space, for a bandsaw. I have the money (well, right now anyway...and it means no fun things for, well, the rest of the year), but no space. Enjoy the saw! |

I'm jealous. I have the 14" Jet and it is a great machine. It does all that I've needed until I started building a guitar. I would love to have one that size for resawing. I've thought about the riser block on mine, but I don't think there's enough Hp to resaw something 8 or 9 inches wide. Ron |

Lucky Devil Paul! I've had this brand new Axminster saw sitting in my shop at home for three months and I've been stuck on this boat and haven't even seen it yet  . My wife tells me it's been delivered and set up in the shop where I marked the floor, it weighs in at 196kg (430lb) so I didn't want to move it. My Brother-in-law has set it up and cut some wood on it, he tells me it's great
Spec: 21" wheels 152" 1/4" - 1 1/4" blades 310mm (12") depth of cut 2hp motor Roller guides. 
The only thing that consoles me in all this is that we are going to win the Ashes this week

Hey Colin, Nice bandsaw! When they come with a little eye/loop/hook thingy on the top for you to attach the crane, you know it's a serious piece of kit! I wanted the 21" jet, but I guess I can make do .
Three months is a long time to be separated from your loved ones. That would drive me nuts, I couldn't wait til the weekend to unpack mine and set it up - had to take a day off. Though I suppose carving those roses would teach you some patience - and I guess an impatient geologist is a guy heading for a fall. Hopefully you'll have a stack of Cuban to resaw when you get back 
Er, the Ashes, yes, well...I did mention something about heading for a fall... Our guys better pull something out of the hat or the reception when they get back will be a tad frosty. |

I'm told by a higher authority that I'm not allowed to knock down the dividing wall and chuck the washing machine and tumbledryer out to make extra space, isn't that unreasonable? Colin |

The eye hook thingy on the top of these saws are not for lifting the saw ,...but for secureing in shipment . (to keep from tipping over ,...they are very top heavy. I have the Laguna HD 16" ,..and can say they are an awesome tool. JD Myers Fishook Custom Guitars |
